Before & After GAC Conversion

In this before and after we took an old aeration system, and replaced it with a Granulated Activated Carbon System (GAC).

Norwalk CT Sub Membrane Depressurization

CT Radon and Well Water Solutions was called out to a home in Norwalk CT to investigate a house that was built entirely on a dirt crawl space. Elevated radon levels of 10+ pCi/l were recorded in multiple living areas over the crawl space.

We went out to the home and found that the house was built entirely over exposed dirt crawl spaces.

CT Radon and Well Water Solutions was hired to mitigate the property. We installed a cross-laminated poly vapor barrier over the entire dirt floor footprint. We then installed suction pipes through the barrier and routed them to the home's exterior where we connected an in-line fan to the pipe network to create suction under the barrier and expel the soil gas outdoors above the roofline. Post-mitigation testing revealed results of < 1.0 pCi/l in all living areas.

well water system upgrade in Oxford CT

Customer had a well tank and plumbing connections that showed signs of severe corrosion. He also had an old aeration system for waterborne radon removal that had been in bypass for years due to constant malfunctions. We removed the old pressure tank and aeration system and installed a new pressure tank, along with a neutralizer to reduce corrosion, and a GAC system for waterborne radon removal. Customer now has a neutral pH, low radon levels, and better water pressure, and no fear of the corroded fittings letting go.

Aeration to GAC conversion

This home had an old aeration system that was problematic. The system had reached a service life where multiple things were going wrong and repairs were going to be costly. The owner inquired about GAC (granular activated carbon) as an alternative. The non-mechanical, no operational noise aspect of GAC was appealing to them. We explained that while aeration was the "best available technology" (BAT) for waterborne radon removal, GAC can be an option depending on radon concentrations. After several confirmatory tests, we determined that GAC would be an applicable technology for this particular home.

We removed the old aeration system and installed the GAC tank with pre and post sediment filters (a feature many of our competitors don't do), along with an up flow acid neutralizer. The customer is thrilled with the results and has great quality water.
